I had the pleasure of working closely with Darlene for 5-6 years at Connolly Bove Lodge and Hutz. We worked in the same department and I saw her pretty much everyday. We were a “family” away from our real families. Like any family we had our ups and downs. But no can deny what a wonderful person Darlene really was. She was & is a real inspiration for a positive attitude, positive outlook on life, and overall good character. I will miss seeing her face everyday, joking with her, laughing with her, sharing bits of our lives with one another. I will miss seeing her walk into work each day with color coordinated outfits, a hearty laugh, a huge smile, and a tremendously uplifting spirit. Despite hardships in her life Darlene always came out on top, she always found a reason to smile and take the bad and turn it into good. She was a real inspiration to me and others as well. I will never forget her. I will never forget the impact she had on my life.My prayers go out to William, William Jr., and Sharneka even though we didn’t know each other well…..I felt like I really knew you guys from talking with Darlene regularly. She was so proud and happy to have you guys in her life. I’m glad she was able to be surrounded by her family in her last days. You meant the world to her and she spoke your praises almost every day.
